Lifelong learning
This is the new name of the EU education programme 2007-2013, which replaces the previous programmes Leonardo da Vinci and Socrates. “Lebenslanges Lernen” (lifelong learning) is also the name of the newly organised national agency supporting the educational programme throughout Austria, which is responsible for European projects and mobility schemes. For VET, above all the Leonardo da Vinci programme is important, which refers to initial (IVET) and continuing vocational training (CVET), as well as the Comenius programme with its focus on languages and culture. On 8 May, the Leonardo da Vinci Advisory Board constituted itself and took over selection of the first mobility projects. It is truly gratifying that they included a large number of projects for people in IVET. Europe-wide mobility of our students is the order of the day particularly in the technological sphere. Details on the relevant programmes can be found at www.lebenslanges-lernen.at.
